Dino-Lite digital microscopes are equipped with a cap (or nozzle) at the tip of the device. The main function of this cap is to protect the lens and help adjust the working distance when observing samples. Depending on the model, Dino-Lite microscopes may have either a fixed cap or an interchangeable cap.
A. Fixed (Non-Removable) Caps
Some Dino-Lite models, especially the Premier Series and early-generation models outside the Edge Series, feature fixed (non-removable) caps. These caps are integrated with the microscope body and are not meant to be removed or replaced.
The Dino-Lite AF3113T is part of the Dino-Lite Premier Series and features a fixed cap. This model is ideal for general use or educational purposes where interchangeable accessories are not needed.
B. Interchangeable Caps
The more advanced Dino-Lite microscopes, particularly those in the Edge Series and EdgePLUS Series, feature an interchangeable front cap design. This allows users to switch caps to modify and expand the microscope’s functionality.

Types of Interchangeable Caps
Each type of cap is designed for a specific purpose. Below are the most common Dino-Lite Edge Series caps and their functions:
A. Standard Caps
For general use. Helps maintain a fixed focus during handheld operation of the microscope. Compatible with Dino-Lite Edge and EdgePLUS series models.
2. N3C-E (Extended Open Cap, 12.5mm)
Extended open contact cap for general handheld use. Compatible with Dino-Lite Edge and EdgePLUS series models.
3. N3C-C (Closed Cap, 9.5mm)
Sealed cap that protects the lens from moisture and small debris. Compatible with Dino-Lite Edge and EdgePLUS series models.
4. N3C-L (Long Cap, 30mm)
Long open cap for handheld operation. Helps users quickly find focus at low magnification when it touches the surface. Compatible with Dino-Lite Edge and EdgePLUS series models.
B. Black Caps (Special Caps for Light-Sensitive Applications)
These black caps are used to block ambient light during fluorescence or UV microscopy, ensuring clear and accurate results.
1. N3C-S (Side Light Cap, 14mm)
Blocks certain LEDs to create angled illumination, enhancing surface texture and depth, especially at short working distances. Compatible with Dino-Lite Edge and EdgePLUS series models.
2. N3C-EB (Extended Open Cap Black, 12.5mm)
Reduces interference from ambient light and minimizes eye contact with bright light sources. Compatible with Dino-Lite Edge and EdgePLUS series models.
3. N3C-OB (Open Cap Black, 9.5mm)
Prevents unwanted light reflections when observing fluorescent samples. Compatible with Dino-Lite Edge and EdgePLUS series models.
4. N3C-LB (Long Cap Black, 30mm)
Blocks ambient light at low magnifications for clearer fluorescence observations. Compatible with Dino-Lite Edge and EdgePLUS series models.
C. Anti-Glare and Diffuser Caps
For users working with shiny or reflective surfaces, glare and reflections can make observation difficult. Dino-Lite offers anti-glare and diffuser caps designed to soften and evenly distribute LED light for shadow-free illumination.
1. N3C-R (Ring Light Attachment)
A unique attachment that redirects built-in LED light to form a focused, diffused, and uniform ring light. Ideal for macro observations with shadowless illumination. Compatible with Dino-Lite Edge LWD models (TL, ZTL).
Note: The N3C-R has best working distance in the range of about 2 to 15 cm. It may not be suitable for short working distance operation, and is not compatible with high magnification models.
A translucent diffuser cap that softens LED light, providing gentle illumination. Compatible with Dino-Lite Edge and EdgePLUS series models (excluding high magnification models).
3. N3C-D2 (Opal Diffuser Cap)
An opaque diffuser cap that evenly distributes light, reducing harsh reflections. Compatible with Dino-Lite Edge and EdgePLUS series models (excluding high magnification models).
Dino-Lite N3C-SET1 (Edge Series Cap Set)
The Dino-Lite N3C-SET1 includes all the standard caps found in the Edge Series package: N3C-O, N3C-E, N3C-C, N3C-L, N3C-D, N3C-D2, and N3C-S. This complete set provides flexibility for a wide range of microscopy applications, from general observation to specialized imaging needs.
